By bicycle from Holzwickede to Unna

Set off from Holzwickede, a charming town just south-east of Dortmund known for its greenery and relaxed vibe. Your ride covers about 9 km to the lively small city of Unna. It’s a chill route, mostly on quiet roads and paths, with a gentle overall descent—so expect an easier pedal as you go!

Most of the way is smooth asphalt, weaving through a mix of suburban streets and countryside views—perfect for getting into a rhythm and enjoying the ride. There’s only a bit of gentle climbing early on (about 38 m ascent), then it’s mostly downhill or flat from there.

Once you arrive in Unna, check out the city’s medieval center and the famous Lichtkunst (Light Art) installations if you have time. Whether you’re heading there for sightseeing or just a nice cruise, it’s a lovely route with low traffic and plenty of scenery!
