By bicycle from Eimsbüttel to Altona

This relaxed cycling route starts in Eimsbüttel, one of Hamburg’s coolest, most laid-back neighborhoods, known for its leafy parks, cozy cafés, and beautiful Altbau apartments. From here, you’ll wind your way towards Altona—a former independent city, now a vibrant Hamburg district celebrated for its waterfront and multicultural vibe.

The route itself is an easy ride, covering just under 6 km, mostly on quiet roads and smooth asphalt. You’ll pass through a mix of classic Hamburg architecture and green spaces, with a gentle ascent and barely any hills to worry about. There are a few paving stones along the way, but almost the entire ride is paved and comfortable.

Once you roll into Altona, there’s plenty to do: check out the views over the Elbe from Altonaer Balkon or grab a coffee at one of the trendy cafés. Perfect for an after-work trip or a breezy weekend ride!
