Bikepacking from Dresden to Leipzig

This ride takes you from the elegant city of Dresden to the vibrant heart of Leipzig—about 162 km of classic Saxony scenery, mostly on quiet roads, smooth cycleways, and tranquil paths (so you can expect a relaxing, car-lite experience overall). Leaving Dresden’s historic baroque skyline behind, you’ll trace the gentle hills and rolling fields that make this region so cycling-friendly, ascending just over 600 meters in total.

About 84% of the route is paved (mostly lovely asphalt), though you’ll also find short stretches of paving stones and the occasional bit of gravel—nothing too rough, but worth a heads-up if you’re rolling skinny tires. There are almost no busy roads, and you’ll enjoy the peace of rural Saxon villages and green meadows nearly the whole way.
