By bicycle from Berchtesgaden to Schönau am Königssee

This quick ride takes you from the charming alpine town of Berchtesgaden down to Schönau am Königssee—perfect for a leisurely morning spin or a scenic commute! You’ll cover just under 5 kilometers, weaving through a mix of quiet roads and tracks, with a gentle rollercoaster of about 110 meters up and down—enough to keep things interesting, but not too tough for most riders.

Starting in Berchtesgaden, you’ll see classic Bavarian architecture and postcard-perfect mountain backdrops. The route is mostly paved but expect a little gravel and some tracks (so a hybrid or gravel bike is ideal). As you approach Schönau am Königssee, get ready for jaw-dropping views of the emerald-green Königssee lake, nestled in the heart of Berchtesgaden National Park.
