Cycling day trip from Bautzen to Spremberg

This picturesque bike route takes you from the historic town of Bautzen to Spremberg, covering about 67 kilometers. You'll start in Bautzen, famous for its beautiful medieval old town and the imposing Bautzen Castle perched on a hill above the Spree river. As you set off north, the scenery quickly changes from ancient stone walls to open Saxon countryside.

About two-thirds of the way, you’ll find yourself on smooth asphalt or paved surfaces, making for a comfortable ride, although there are some stretches on gravel or rougher paths – so a hybrid or trekking bike is your friend here. The route is mostly flat with a modest ascent, but you’ll enjoy a nice descent as you approach Spremberg.
