Bacharach to Koblenz Cycling Route
Get ready for an epic ride along the Rhine! Starting in the charming medieval town of Bacharach (famous for its half-timbered houses and Riesling wine), you’ll follow the river north to the historic city of Koblenz, where the Moselle meets the Rhine at the Deutsches Eck.
The route is around 60 km with close to 900 meters of climbing, so expect some hilly stretches—nothing too wild, but a good workout. Most of your ride is on paved paths and quiet roads, with the scenery switching between lush vineyards, fairytale castles perched above the river, and sleepy riverside villages. The Rhine Gorge section is particularly gorgeous and UNESCO-listed!
There are a few bits on gravel and cobbles, so a hybrid or touring bike works best. Take your time to enjoy the views, maybe stop for a riverside picnic, and definitely snap some photos. Once in Koblenz, reward yourself with a stroll along the riverfront or a ride up the cable car to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress for sweeping views!
