Cycling day trip from Ahaus to Gronau

This ride takes you from the charming town of Ahaus up north to Gronau, a pleasant journey of just about 21 km with nearly flat terrain—perfect for a relaxed cycle! You’ll roll out of Ahaus, known for its beautiful Baroque castle and laid-back vibe, and quickly find yourself cruising along a mix of asphalt cycleways, smooth paths, and the occasional stretch of paving stones.

The majority of the route is on dedicated paths and cycleways—so it’s peaceful riding with little to no car traffic. Enjoy those pastoral Westphalian fields and perhaps spot a few windmills along the way. There’s a gentle ascent and descent, but nothing your legs can’t handle.

When you reach Gronau, you’re in the birthplace of the famous rock musician Udo Lindenberg. The town is also known for its Rock'n'Popmuseum—well worth a visit if you’ve got time to spare at the finish.
