Cycling day trip from Tarascon-sur-Ariège to Saint-Girons

Set out from Tarascon-sur-Ariège, a historic gateway town in the Pyrenees with its picturesque castle and charming old streets. This route to Saint-Girons promises a real adventure, weaving you through the lush Ariège countryside and up into the hills—expect plenty of climbs, with over 1,100 meters of ascent and some satisfying descents.

You’ll spend much of your ride (over 60%) on unpaved surfaces, mostly gravel and even some loose gravel—so wider tires or a gravel bike are a good idea. The scenery makes it all worthwhile: quiet paths and tranquil forest roads, with very little traffic or urban hustle.
