By bicycle from Lyon to La Mulatière

A quick city-to-hills ride from Lyon to La Mulatière with riverside vibes and a punchy finish. Roll out from central Lyon toward the Confluence, cruising mostly on dedicated cycleways (about 60%) along the Rhône/Saône quays. It’s a smooth 6.8 km with mostly asphalt under your wheels; there’s a brief unpaved/gravel patch, but nothing a city bike can’t handle. Swing past the striking Musée des Confluences at the tip of the peninsula, then cross toward La Mulatière—expect an ~86 m net climb, with the steep bit near the end as you leave the river.

Lyon’s historic core is UNESCO-listed and famous for its food—perfect excuse for a pre-ride pastry. At the finish, La Mulatière sits above the meeting of the Rhône and Saône and is home to the Aquarium de Lyon, plus great views back to Fourvière on a clear day. Mostly quiet roads once off the quays; watch for pedestrians around Confluence. Ideal for an easy spin with a scenic finale.
