By bicycle from Lyon to Caluire-et-Cuire

This ride takes you from vibrant Lyon up to the leafy suburb of Caluire-et-Cuire, a perfect short route if you’re after a gentle city escape with a hint of a workout. Starting in central Lyon, you’ll quickly trade the bustle for scenic streets—more than half the route follows dedicated cycleways, so it’s a smooth and safe trip. You’ll gradually climb nearly 100 meters, so expect a mild but steady uphill (blame Lyon’s famous hills!), but you’ll be rewarded with great views as you edge closer to Caluire-et-Cuire.

Along the way, you’ll cruise past the banks of the Rhône and maybe catch a glimpse of la Cité Internationale or the Parc de la Tête d'Or if you stick close to the riverside. Caluire-et-Cuire itself is known for its calm vibe and proximity to the Croix-Rousse Plateau. All paved, mostly asphalt—no need for a mountain bike here.
