Quick ride by bicycle from Solymár to Budapest II. kerület

Roll out from Solymár, a leafy gateway to the Buda and Pilis Hills (check out the ruins of Solymár Castle/Szarkavár if you’ve time), and point your bars toward Budapest’s District II. The route is about 16.5 km with roughly 270 m of climbing—mostly gentle rollers—topping out around 340 m.

You’ll spend most of the ride on quiet roads, with short stretches of forest track and cycleway. Surfaces are mainly asphalt, but expect a bit of gravel and some unpaved bits; comfy tires (32–35 mm) will make it smoother.

Thread past Hűvösvölgy and into the greener side of Buda, then ease into District II’s calm neighborhoods like Pasarét and Rózsadomb territory. This part of the city is known for its villa-lined hills, parks, and classic cafés—perfect for a finish-line espresso. Lukács Baths and Millenáris Park aren’t far if you want a post-ride wind-down.

Tips: watch for walkers on the tracks, and mind a few short, punchy ramps. A light, scenic ride with a proper Buda vibe.
