Cycling day trip from Pécs to Komló

This ride takes you from the lively city of Pécs to the mining town of Komló, winding through about 35 km of mostly paved and asphalt roads. Expect some solid climbing, with over 800 meters of ascent—perfect if you’re up for a challenge and want to earn your coffee break at the end! While the route mostly sticks to quiet roads and dedicated cycleways, be prepared for a few stretches where the route info is a bit fuzzy, so it helps to have your GPS or a good sense of direction.

You’ll start in Pécs, famous for its Mediterranean vibes, historic old town, and UNESCO-listed Early Christian Necropolis. The route heads north through the lovely, rolling hills of Baranya, offering scenic countryside views before delivering you to Komló, a town shaped by its coal mining heritage. With the highest point just under 430 meters, you’ll enjoy some great downhill sections too.
