Cycling day trip from Győr to Töltéstava

Roll out from Győr’s handsome baroque center—set at the meeting of the Rába, Rábca and Mosoni-Danube—and head southeast on well-marked bike lanes. It’s an easy, mostly flat 20.3 km ride with roughly 40 m of total climbing, great for a relaxed spin.

About half the route uses dedicated cycleways and most of the rest are quiet local roads. Surfaces are predominantly paved/asphalt, with a few short gravel bits (around 13%), so wider tires are nice but not essential. As you leave the city, the views open to fields and smallholdings before you roll into Töltéstava, a sleepy village just outside Győr whose name echoes its “embankment lake” origins.

Ideas: grab a pre-ride coffee around Győr’s Széchenyi Square or take a quick look at the Basilica and Bishop’s Castle. In Töltéstava, enjoy the calm village vibe or a breather by the water before looping back. Keep an eye out for the brief unpaved sections and you’re golden.
