Quick ride by bicycle from Gárdony to Pákozd

A relaxed lakeside spin from Gárdony to Pákozd, perfect for an easy half-day ride. It’s about 16 km, almost entirely paved, and mostly on dedicated cycle paths with a few quiet-road sections. Expect gentle terrain with only around 60 m of climbing.

Roll out from Gárdony’s Velencei-tó shoreline—great spot for a pre-ride coffee or a quick dip. Gárdony is a classic resort town; if you have time, the Agárd thermal bath is a local favorite.

Follow the lake-side cycleway west/northwest, skirting beaches and reed beds, with smooth asphalt and some short paving-stone stretches near promenades. As the Velence Hills rise ahead, you’ll curve toward Pákozd.

Pákozd is famous for the 1848 Battle of Pákozd; the National Military Memorial Park is just outside town, and the giant Miska Huszár statue makes a fun photo stop. If you’ve got extra legs, tack on a short hike or ride to the Pákozd–Sukoró “ingókövek” rock formations for big views over the lake.
