Quick ride by bicycle from Čadca to Turzovka

Roll out from Čadca, the gateway to Slovakia’s Kysuce region near the Czech and Polish borders, and head southwest toward Turzovka. It’s a compact 19 km ride with plenty of punch: expect around 640 m of climbing spread across quiet backroads and a good dose of forest tracks. Busy traffic is basically a non-issue, but the mixed surfaces (asphalt, gravel, and some unpaved stretches) make a gravel or sturdy touring bike the smart choice.

The route undulates through spruce woods and open meadows with classic Kysuce views. Pace yourself on the longer ramps and watch for rough patches under the trees—especially after rain. You’ll crest around 650 m before a rolling run toward town.

Turzovka is a laid-back finish with a big story: it’s known for the Marian pilgrimage site on Živčáková hill, a local spiritual landmark. Grab a snack in the center and, if you’ve got extra legs, consider a short detour toward the hill for panoramas.

Tips: wider tires (35–40 mm), lights for shaded forest sections, and a wind layer—weather changes fast in these hills.
