Cycling day trip from Ústí nad Labem to Mělník

Set out on a scenic ride from Ústí nad Labem to Mělník—roughly 78 km of mostly paved and quiet roads, with sections of riverside cycleway to enjoy. Ústí nad Labem, perched by the Elbe River and nestled among forested hills, is known for its dramatic skyline, including Střekov Castle and the Mariánská skála (Marian Rock).

Leaving the city, the route gently rises and falls, with just under 500 meters of total climbing—enough to feel the burn, but not too daunting. Much of your ride hugs the Elbe (Labe) river, passing through tranquil Czech countryside and cute villages. About two-thirds of the surfaces are paved or asphalt, but be ready for a few stretches of gravel and paving stones, especially near small towns.

As you approach Mělník, look out for its iconic castle standing guard above the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers—perfectly placed for a celebratory photo or a glass of local wine. Mělník is famous for its vineyards and stunning river views, so take time to soak it all in before heading home!
