Cycling day trip from Zakopane to Krakow

This epic cycling route takes you from Zakopane all the way to Kraków—almost 135 kilometers of adventure! You’ll start in Zakopane, the self-proclaimed “Winter Capital of Poland,” perched at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. The first part of the route features some punchy climbs and awesome mountain views, climbing to nearly 900 meters in elevation before you start rolling north.

Most of the ride is on quiet or less-traveled roads (about 63%), with a decent mix of paved and asphalt surfaces. There’s some gravel and track, but it’s mostly smooth going. Expect a mix of peaceful countryside, charming villages, and the occasional forest section.

As you descend toward Kraków, the scenery changes from rugged mountains to rolling hills and farmland. Arriving in Kraków is a treat: the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with history, grand squares, and café culture—well-earned after all that cycling!
