Bikepacking from Zakopane to Wietrzychowice

Set off from the mountain town of Zakopane, famed as the “winter capital of Poland” and gateway to the Tatra Mountains. You’ll immediately be treated to spectacular views and that unmistakable mountain air, as you begin your journey north through rolling hills and small villages.

The route does stretch over 220 km, so it’s best for experienced cyclists—or those looking for an epic challenge! Expect some real climbs, especially early on as you ride out of Zakopane (with a total ascent of over 2,500 m), followed by a gentle descent towards your destination. Most of the ride is on paved surfaces and quieter roads, making for an overall smooth and enjoyable ride, with only the occasional gravel section to mix things up.

You’ll finish in Wietrzychowice, a peaceful rural village in the Małopolskie region, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Zakopane. Along the way, soak in the diverse scenery, from sweeping mountain vistas to farmlands and riversides—the best of southern Poland on two wheels!
