Quick ride by bicycle from Zaratán to Valladolid

This mellow 13 km ride kicks off in Zaratán, a small town perched on the edge of the Valladolid plateau, known for its sweeping views and famous "tortas de Zaratán" (a local pastry worth tasting if you have time!). From the get-go, you’ll meander mostly downhill, trading 64 meters of easy climbing for over 100 meters of descent as you roll toward the city.

The route is a nice mix: about half on dedicated cycleways and the rest on quiet roads and scenic gravel tracks. Expect the first stretch to be a bit rural (gravel and some unpaved, but nothing too gnarly), then it transitions to smooth asphalt and solid cycle lanes as you approach Valladolid.

You'll finish right in the heart of Valladolid, the vibrant capital of Castilla y León. The city’s filled with historic sights—like the Plaza Mayor and the beautiful cathedral—so this is a great way to arrive.
