Cycling day trip from Pamplona to Estella-Lizarra

This ride takes you from Pamplona, famed for its San Fermín bull run and beautiful old city center, to the historic town of Estella-Lizarra. You’ll cover about 53 km, mixing it up between gravel, dirt tracks, and some quiet paved roads. Be ready for a bit of a challenge—there’s around 1,175 m of climbing and nearly as much descent, with some great views when you top out around 940 meters.

The route is an adventure, with over half on tracks and a fair bit unpaved—so a gravel or sturdy hybrid bike is ideal. Expect everything from wide gravel lanes through green hills to bumpy farm paths and stretches of blissfully quiet countryside roads.

Estella-Lizarra, your destination, is known as a key stop on the Camino de Santiago. The medieval streets and riverside squares are a perfect place to relax and refuel after your ride. Don’t forget to try the local pintxos before heading back!
