Bikepacking from Bergen to Voss

Get ready for a truly epic ride from Bergen to Voss—this route is not for the faint-hearted! Starting off in Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, you’ll roll past its famously colorful harbor and historic wharf—Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The route is long (about 170 km!), with plenty of ups and downs, climbing over 6,200 meters in ascent. You’ll travel through lush valleys, alongside fjords, and possibly even past a waterfall or two—after all, you’re in the heart of fjord country.

Most of the ride is on paved roads, but you’ll hit stretches of asphalt and the occasional bit of gravel, so a sturdy bike is a good idea. Expect quieter roads mixed with a few busier sections—especially near towns. The scenery is your constant companion, and the maximum elevation hits just under 1,000 meters, so pack layers for the changes in temperature.
