By bicycle from Fiesole to Florence

This is a lovely ride that starts in charming Fiesole, perched on the hills just northeast of Florence. Fiesole is famous for its Etruscan and Roman roots, and its sweeping views—so before you hop on the bike, take a moment to admire the panorama over Florence below.

Your route is pretty much downhill all the way, with a gentle ascent at first, but then a nice, long descent into the heart of the city—over 300 meters down! The roads are mostly quiet and paved, with a good chunk on dedicated cycleways, making it easy to relax and enjoy the Tuscan landscape as you glide past olive groves and stone villas.

Within less than 10 km, you’ll swap peaceful hills for the Renaissance splendor of Florence, rolling straight into its lively streets. If you have time, don’t miss a gelato by the Duomo or a stroll along the Arno after your ride!
