Cycling day trip from Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino to Trento

Cruise from vine-draped Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino down to Trento on a super-friendly valley ride. It’s about 55 km, mostly paved and mostly on dedicated cycleways, with a gentle net descent—perfect for an easy day out.

Roll past vineyards (a quick detour to Lake Caldaro is tempting), then drop to the Adige/Etsch cycle path. You’ll glide through Ora/Auer and the pretty arcades of Egna/Neumarkt, then the Salorno gorge, historically the linguistic border between German- and Italian-speaking regions. Crossing into Trentino, the route stays flat and fast alongside orchards and the river, with mountain views keeping you company.

Finish in Trento, the elegant Trentino capital—think Castello del Buonconsiglio, Piazza Duomo with its Neptune fountain, and the city famed for the Council of Trent. Coffee and gelato options abound.

Notes: surfaces are ~99% paved with long stretches of cycleway, and there’s very little climbing (more descent than ascent). Start earlier on warm days to dodge valley headwinds and enjoy cooler temps.
