Quick ride by bicycle from Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino to Termeno

Roll out from Caldaro/Kaltern on the South Tyrolean Wine Road and cruise south through sea-of-vines scenery toward Termeno/Tramin. It’s a short, mellow 11 km point-to-point with a friendly net downhill (more descent than climb), perfect for an easy spin between wineries.

The route strings together quiet village roads and a signed cycleway, with some vineyard farm tracks mixed in. Most of it is smooth asphalt; expect a couple of brief gravel stretches—fine on a road bike with sturdier tires or any gravel/trekking setup.

Peek left for Lake Caldaro (nice detour if you fancy a swim), and across to the Mendola ridge. At the start, Caldaro hosts the South Tyrolean Wine Museum; at the finish, Termeno is famed as the birthplace of Gewürztraminer—ideal spot to toast the ride on the piazza.

Tips: 28 mm+ tires make the short gravel bits comfy, and during harvest you may meet slow-moving tractors in the lanes—go easy and enjoy the vineyard vibes.
