Cycling day trip from Bormio to Livigno

Ready for an epic ride in the Alps? Set off from the charming spa town of Bormio, famous for its ancient Roman baths and as a gateway to some legendary mountain passes. This route to Livigno is a true adventure, winding about 35 km through dramatic landscapes, alpine meadows, and some of the best mountain views in Lombardy.

You’ll be climbing a hefty 1,550 meters (bring your climbing legs!), reaching a max elevation of over 2,300 meters. Roughly two-thirds of the route is on paved and asphalt surfaces, but expect sections of gravel and unpaved paths where the scenery more than makes up for the bumpy ride.

After conquering the climb, you’ll descend towards Livigno, an alpine town known for duty-free shopping, endless outdoor activities, and famously good pizza. The mix of path, cycleway, and quiet roads makes this challenging but oh-so-rewarding adventure perfect for riders who like a bit of everything: physical challenge, fresh mountain air, and an unforgettable arrival in one of Italy’s coolest high-altitude towns.
