Cycling day trip from Amaro to Udine

This is a lovely pedal from the mountain-flanked village of Amaro all the way down to the vibrant city of Udine. Starting at the edge of the Carnic Alps, you’ll glide gradually downhill, losing over 300 meters in elevation—so you can give your legs a bit of a break and just enjoy the views! With more than half your ride on quiet roads and a good chunk on dedicated cycleways, you can really settle into a steady rhythm, soaking up plenty of Friulian countryside along the way.

You'll roll through vineyards, woodlands, and small villages, before landing in Udine—all on about 56 km of mostly paved surfaces. Just a quick heads up: there are a few stretches where the surface isn’t perfect (some gravel bits and back roads), but nothing a standard road bike can’t handle.

Once in Udine, make sure to check out its beautiful piazzas and maybe reward yourself with a spritz in Piazza Libertà—the heart of the city. Overall, a scenic and approachable route linking mountain charm to urban culture.
