Cycling day trip from Zabljak to Kolašin

Get ready for an epic mountain adventure! This ride starts in Žabljak, Montenegro’s highest town and your gateway to the stunning Durmitor National Park—a place famed for its dramatic peaks and glacial lakes. From here, you’ll wind your way towards Kolašin, a laid-back mountain town popular with skiers and hikers.

The route covers just under 85 km, so it’s a solid day in the saddle, and you’ll rack up nearly 2000 meters of ascent (legs, beware!) before more than 2400 meters of thrilling descent as you make your way south. The scenery? Expect endless pine forests, sweeping valley views, and rugged plateaus.

The ride is a real mixed bag surface-wise: roughly half is paved or asphalt, while the rest is a patchwork of gravel and unpaved sections, so sturdy tires are a must. Most of your journey rolls along quiet roads and scenic tracks—perfect for soaking up those wild landscapes without much traffic.
