Quick ride by bicycle from Opatija to Lovran

Start your ride in elegant Opatija, a seaside resort town famous for its grand villas and lush parks, once a favorite of Austro-Hungarian nobility. Hop onto mostly quiet roads and scenic paths, climbing gently out of town—expect a few steeper sections as you climb over 500 meters in total. The route mixes smooth asphalt with a little bit of unpaved and pebblestone, so a hybrid or gravel bike is a good choice.

You’ll snake through verdant hills above the Kvarner Bay, with brilliant Adriatic views peeking through olive groves and Mediterranean woodland. After the climb, a winding descent leads you into Lovran, another charming coastal town known for its medieval old town and chestnut-lined promenades.

It’s an 11.6 km ride with a solid amount of up and down, so it’s more for the adventurous, but the stunning scenery and historical atmosphere at both ends make it well worth the effort. Grab a gelato by the sea to celebrate when you arrive!
