Cycling day trip from Bohinjska Bistrica to Tolmin

This ride is an epic adventure across the heart of the Julian Alps! Kicking off in the tranquil town of Bohinjska Bistrica, nestled right beside Lake Bohinj and famed as a gateway to Triglav National Park, you’ll tackle a big day in the saddle with challenging climbs and even tougher descents — in total, over 4,200 meters up and 4,500 meters down!

The 80-kilometer route mixes up surfaces: mostly quiet paved and asphalt roads, with a good stretch of gravel and some wilder, remote tracks (so plan for a bit of everything under your wheels). Expect spectacular mountain scenery, alpine villages, and breath-stealing views as you crest impressive elevations—the highest point topping out above 1,450 meters!
