Cycling day trip from La Paz to Montevideo

Roll out from La Paz, a low-key town in Canelones on Montevideo’s doorstep. This roughly 31 km spin heads southeast toward the capital on mostly smooth pavement (about 87% paved), with a nice mix of dedicated cycleways and quiet roads. It’s gently rolling—around 200 m of total climbing and nothing higher than about 60 m—so you can keep a steady, relaxed pace.

As you get closer to the city, bike lanes become more frequent and traffic stays manageable, with only brief busy stretches. You’ll finish in Montevideo, Uruguay’s laid‑back capital on the Río de la Plata, known for its historic Ciudad Vieja, the waterfront Rambla, and post‑ride refuels at Mercado del Puerto.
