Quick ride by bicycle from The Bronx to Inwood

Time to explore some of New York’s northern neighborhoods by bike! This route takes you from the Bronx—New York City’s only borough mostly on the mainland—up to Inwood, the tip of Manhattan. Stretching just over 11 km (about 7 miles), it’s a relatively relaxed ride with a few rolling hills to keep things interesting, but nothing too daunting.

You’ll start in the Bronx, a borough known for its vibrant street art, Yankee Stadium, and the expansive Bronx Zoo. The majority of the ride cruises along quiet roads and some cycleways, offering a nice break from city traffic. Expect mostly paved and asphalt surfaces—perfect for smooth rolling. As you head west and then north, you might catch glimpses of the Harlem River and some lovely green spaces.

Once you roll into Inwood, you’re in one of Manhattan’s greenest, most relaxed corners. Inwood Hill Park is famous for its wild, natural beauty and even has some forested areas—the last in Manhattan!
