Bikepacking from Sibiu to Brasov

Get ready for a spectacular ride from Sibiu to Brașov! This almost 200 km route takes you from Sibiu, one of Romania’s most charming medieval cities (don’t miss its iconic “eyes” rooftops), southeast toward the mountain-wrapped city of Brașov, nestled right by the Carpathians.

You’ll face a real adventure: over 2400 meters of climbing, with rolling hills, forest tracks, and a good mix of gravel and paved roads. About half the route is on rural tracks, so expect some bumpy sections—perfect for gravel bikes or sturdy tourers. Along the way, you’ll get up to almost 1,500 meters in elevation, with some awesome Transylvanian views as your reward.

Brașov itself is seriously photogenic, with its Gothic Black Church and lively old town surrounded by forested hills. Allow yourself plenty of time: this is a long, tough journey, but it’s unforgettable, weaving two of Transylvania’s best-loved cities together through wild, scenic countryside. Don’t forget your camera—and maybe a slice of Sibiu cheese for the road!
