Cycling day trip from Sibiu to Sighișoara

This route takes you from Sibiu, a charming Transylvanian city known for its cobblestone old town and medieval walls, all the way to Sighișoara, the UNESCO-listed birthplace of Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula). In just under 120 km, you’ll get a hefty dose of adventure and beauty.

Be prepared for a real mix of surfaces—expect gravel, unpaved tracks, and only a bit of smooth asphalt. Over half your journey is on rural tracks threading through rolling hills and tranquil countryside, with some significant climbs and descents to keep things interesting (bring your legs and your snacks!). Along the way, you’ll pedal past Saxon villages, forests, and farmland, with occasional views of the Carpathians.

Arriving in Sighișoara, you’ll find one of Europe’s best-preserved fortified towns, complete with colorful houses and a fairy-tale clock tower. Whether you do this as an epic day out or spread it over two, it’s a proper Transylvanian adventure perfect for gravel or touring bikes.
