By bicycle from Surbiton to Kingston upon Thames

A gentle 5.2 km spin from suburban Surbiton to Kingston upon Thames. Roll out from Surbiton’s Grade II–listed Art Deco station and head for Portsmouth Road to pick up the protected riverside cycleway. You’ll cruise alongside the Thames with views of Raven’s Ait and the old Seething Wells reservoirs before easing into Kingston’s riverside.

Surfaces are mostly smooth asphalt with a short stretch of paving stones near the cafés and market area. It’s virtually flat with a slight overall downhill, and the route is largely on cycleways and quiet roads; there’s only a brief busier pinch near the town centre, plus a small shared/pedestrian section—just ride courteously.

Finish in Kingston, a historic royal market town where several Saxon kings were crowned—the Coronation Stone is by the Guildhall—and grab coffee by the river or wander the Market Place by All Saints Church. Perfect for an easy everyday ride with big river views.
