By bicycle from Brixton to Hackney

Ready for a true London ride? This route takes you from the vibrant streets of Brixton up to the ever-creative Hackney—roughly 16 km rolling mostly along quiet roads and dedicated cycleways. It's a fantastic way to soak up urban London, from the legendary Brixton Market and its music scene, winding north past parks, canals, and diverse neighborhoods, and finally arriving in Hackney, known for its buzzing cafes, street art, and green spaces.

It's a mostly smooth cruise: the surface is predominantly asphalt and paved, so you’re in for a comfortable journey with hardly any rough patches. The climb is gentle, and while you’ll gain about 90 meters in elevation along the way, it never gets seriously steep.
