Cycling day trip from Canary Wharf to Woolwich

Here’s a relaxed ride taking you from the gleaming towers of Canary Wharf all the way to Woolwich, right along the Thames. Starting out in Canary Wharf, one of London’s busiest financial hubs, you’ll weave past the docks and find surprisingly quiet stretches for cycling, especially given the glass-and-steel buzz around you.

Most of your 25 km adventure sticks to smooth tarmac and dedicated cycleways, taking full advantage of London’s riverside paths. The elevation is modest—no need to dread those hills! Along the way, you’ll skirt historic areas like the Isle of Dogs and pass spots with views of the O2 Arena and Emirates Air Line cable cars.

As you roll into Woolwich, you’ll find this area has its own strong heritage—it was once home to the Royal Arsenal, a historic munitions factory, and recently it’s become known for the fancy new Woolwich ferry and vibrant riverside living. With nearly all your route on good pavements and cycle-friendly paths, it’s a scenic (and very doable!) ride that mixes classic East London cityscapes with plenty of riverside peace.
