By bicycle from Piteşti to Bascov

Spin out of Pitești on quiet neighborhood streets and roll northwest toward Bascov. It’s a comfy 16.5 km with a gently rolling profile (about 150 m up, 170 m down), mostly on paved surfaces. You’ll get plenty of calm roads, with a couple short stretches of track/path and just brief brushes with busier traffic. Expect a few unpaved bits (ground/gravel), so wider tires make it smoother.

Keep an eye out for the Argeș River and green pockets as you leave town—Pitești is known for Trivale Park and its spring Tulip Symphony festival. The ride feels semi-urban to semi-rural as fields and low hills start to take over.

Rolling into Bascov, you’re right by the gateway to the mountains: the famed Transfăgărășan (DN7C) begins nearby. The area is also known for the Bascov–Budeasa rowing course on the Argeș reservoirs, so don’t be surprised to see boats slicing along the water.

Tip: lights for the short busier crossings, and a bottle for the gentle climbs. Then coffee or a lakeside breather at the finish.
