Cycling day trip from Buşteni to Brasov

Get ready for an epic Transylvanian ride! This route starts in Bușteni, a charming mountain resort at the foot of the dramatic Bucegi Mountains (famous for the Caraiman Cross and spectacular alpine scenery). From here, you'll wind north for nearly 65 kilometers, finishing in the lively city of Brașov—home to medieval walls, the iconic Black Church, and one of Romania’s best old towns.

The ride isn’t for the faint of heart: you’ll climb over 2,300 meters and descend even more, often on rough, unpaved tracks and gravel trails through forests and alpine meadows. Expect adventure. The scenery between these two towns is absolutely stunning, especially as you skirt along the edge of the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains. Surfaces are mixed, so a gravel or mountain bike is a must, as paved sections are limited.
