By bicycle from Buşteni to Azuga

Ready for a scenic mountain ride? This route takes you from the charming resort town of Bușteni to Azuga, nestled in the Prahova Valley of Romania’s Carpathians. Starting in Bușteni, known for its striking views of the Bucegi Mountains and landmarks like Cantacuzino Castle, you’ll pedal northwards on a mix of quiet roads, tracks, and paths—so get ready for a bit of adventure!

You’ll tackle a good amount of climbing (over 700 meters of ascent!) and descend around 500 meters—so this one’s for those who enjoy a little workout with their scenery. The ride winds through a blend of smooth asphalt and classic mountain gravel, and about a quarter of the route’s surface keeps things interesting with unpaved sections. Max elevation reaches over 1400 meters, so you’re definitely in mountain territory.

Once you reach Azuga, you’ll find another cozy mountain town popular for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. It’s the perfect spot for a refreshing finish—grab a local beer and soak in those Carpathian vibes!
