Cycling day trip from Spišská Nová Ves to Dobšiná

Set off from Spišská Nová Ves, a charming gateway to Slovenský raj National Park, and get ready for a ride packed with variety! You’ll cover just under 30 km, winding southwest through lush forests, rolling hills, and a few classic Slovak villages before dropping into Dobšiná. This ride is quite the adventure—nearly 900 meters of climbing with a similar descent, so expect some tough uphill pushes and speedy downhills.

Surface-wise, it’s a mixed bag: you’ll be on gravel, unpaved tracks, and the occasional patch of smooth asphalt. Only about a quarter of the route is paved, so a gravel or mountain bike is definitely your best friend here. The scenery is worth the effort, especially as you get close to Dobšiná, a town known for its proximity to the famous Dobšinská Ice Cave.
