Cycling day trip from Revúca to Dobšiná

Ready for a real Slovak adventure? This route takes you from Revúca, a hidden gem nestled in the Revúcka Highlands, all the way to Dobšiná, a gateway to Gemer and famous for its legendary ice cave (Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa). Over roughly 63 km, you’ll take on some serious climbs (over 2,100 meters of ascent!), so be prepared for long stretches through the rolling hills and forests. With gravel and unpaved tracks making up a good chunk of the ride, a gravel or mountain bike is your best friend here.

You’ll spend most of your journey off the beaten path on forest tracks, so soak in the peace and keep an eye out for local wildlife. Asphalt pops up here and there, but don’t expect much traffic—most of the paved sections are on quiet or access roads. Just bring enough snacks and water, as pit stops can be few and far between. By the time you roll into Dobšiná (altitude almost 1,200 m), you’ll have truly earned your finale—maybe even a trip to the ice cave to cool off. What a ride!
