By bicycle from Óbuda-Békásmegyer to Újbuda

Start your ride in Óbuda-Békásmegyer, one of Budapest’s most historic districts known for its Roman ruins and relaxed neighborhood vibes. You’ll head south towards Újbuda, cruising mostly on paved bike paths (so it’s a smooth journey almost the whole way!).

The route covers about 13.5 km, with just over 120 meters of ascent and descent—a gentle roller coaster that’s friendly for all fitness levels. You’ll travel much of the way on dedicated cycleways and quiet roads, so traffic’s rarely a worry, and the scenery shifts from Óbuda’s leafy suburbs to the buzzier atmosphere of Újbuda.

You’ll pass through some great riverside stretches near the Danube, making this a picturesque spin across the city. Újbuda on the other end is famous for its lively cafés, parks, and views over Gellért Hill. Definitely a ride worth taking if you want to see Budapest from a local perspective!
