Quick ride by bicycle from Budapest II. kerület to Budapest XX. kerület

This cycling route takes you from the leafy hills of Budapest’s II. kerület (District 2), a charming and affluent area dotted with villas and parks, all the way down to the lively, more residential XX. kerület (District 20), also known as Pesterzsébet.

Starting higher up in Buda’s rolling streets, you’ll quickly notice a good stretch of descending, with sweet views over the city as you transition from the hilly Buda side toward the flatter Pest. Most of the 15-ish kilometer ride rolls on smooth asphalt or paved roads, with a pretty generous portion (over half!) on dedicated cycleways—a real treat for city cyclists. You’ll pass through some quieter roads too, perfect for easy-going pedaling.

By the time you reach Pesterzsébet, you’ll swap green Buda tranquility for the lively buzz of a classic Pest district, famous for its hearty market hall and local eateries. All in all, it’s a city-crossing adventure that gives you a true Budapest experience—urban scenery, a taste of both Buda and Pest, and a fun ride along the way!
