By bicycle from Barmbek-Nord to Hamburg

A short, city-friendly spin from Barmbek-Nord down to central Hamburg. It’s about 5.6 km, basically flat with a gentle net downhill, and mostly on paved surfaces. Expect quiet residential streets for most of the way, with a few short busy stretches and some shared paths.

Head south from Barmbek-Nord—known for its red-brick housing and former industrial vibe—aiming toward Winterhude/Uhlenhorst. If you fancy a prettier line, hug the Osterbek Canal and then join the paths along the Außenalster for classic Hamburg views. Keep an eye out for pedestrians on the waterfront promenades and a couple of brief paving-stone patches.

Roll into Hamburg’s center near the Alster, where cafés line the water and the Rathaus and shopping streets are a quick spin away. Optional detour: swing by Hamburg Stadtpark just west of the route before heading south. Great everyday ride: smooth, simple, and scenic without much climbing.
