About This Route

This route is perfect for those that have already completed the ride from Bristol To Reading on the Avon Kennett and wish to have cycled near enough from coast to coast.

This route takes you from Reading Train Station following the River Thames to Windsor. You then use the roads to Slough to get the Grand Union canal (Slough arm) to the main Grand Union Canal. South towards Heathrow where you pick up the regents Canal. Follow that virtually to its end by the Olympic Village where you follow The Greenway Path to the A13 At Docklands. From there its roads to the Bridge Crossing over the Thames at Lakeside where you get a lift from a nice man at the crossing control because bikes are not allowed over the bridge.. Travelodge on the south side of the river...

All the usual sights of London are a short detour from this ride so there's plenty of opportunity to use this route for sightseeing.

Please be aware that this path can get very busy, especially along the Regents Canal and especially at weekends so allow plenty of time to complete it...When you've got scenery like this, why do you want to rush?
