The start point here is at the entrance to the Salero Ranch. You may or may not be able to park here. If not you can park at the old townsite of Alto. Alto has only the remaining adobe walls of the old Post Office. This is a forest service road all the way through but a demanding ride in many places. Alot of hill climbs and switchbacks but overall a good, long and demanding ride. It terminates at the Wipple Observatory on Mt. Hopkins Road out of Amado. It's not too hard to do a round trip if you are in shape for 28 mi.  but bring plenty of water and eats. Pretty rugged in places so be prepared. At the turnoff to Josephine Springs you can go right and up Josephine Canyon. It's a good climbing road and a good alternate route. Beautiful country and great views and good cycling. There a quite a few good spots to soak your feet and relax.
Enjoy.
