About This Route

From Sofia to istanbul we decided to take a detour along the Black Sea coast. The route was really beautifull, lot of nice villages and the roads are very ok to cycle on. Though the road to Burgas got a little busy, so we took some smaller ones. Almost all roads are in good conditiones. From the border to Istanbul we would recommend you NOT to take the route we took. Take the road north, via Vize! Istanbul is crazy to cycle, but you can get on the metro easily. Though in the suburbs they don't have an elevator and you might have to carry your bike. ps. the bit to Koprivnitsa was a big mistake, we thought to follow a route not on the map...DO NOT TRY THIS!!! :-) it's the unpaved part..
