About This Route

This was the best ride of our trip so far from the perspectives of quiet riding and unbelievable scenery. (This trip has taken us from Seattle to Vancouver and then east to Grand Forks, BC. Returning to Washington State, we've ridden west, mostly along Washington Route 20.) The only negative was an unexpected unpaved gravel section that we would have avoided if we'd known it was coming. As it went, we got through it OK with just one particularly steep section where we had to push the bikes. This unpaved gravel section started after we'd been on Wolf Creek Road for a few miles and lasted until it hit Route 20 just west of the Route 20 bridge over Methow River, from which we turned onto Goat Creek Road, which leads directly into Mazama. The Twisp-Winthrop Eastside Road was simply fantastic, and shouldn't be missed.
