About This Route

This has to be one of the most difficult routes on bikemap, with possibly over 3/4 of the route with mountains, twisting roads, and high climbs. As it says in the title, it starts in San Diego. After the start, the route climbs the Laguna Mountains, Palomar Mountain, and the San Jacinto Mountains. After a short break through the Banning Pass, we climb the San Bernardinos, the San Gabriels, the Sierra Pelonas, and the San Emigdios. After that is a loop that goes through Ojai, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, and more mountains. There is then a break through the Central Valley and a long trip through the Sierra Nevadas via Yosemite. We then enter Nevada, and pass through flat land, valleys, and more mountains throughout the state. In Utah, we start with more flat land and small mountain ranges before we go through a couple hundred miles of mountains and small valleys. The route then goes briefly through Wyoming and reenters Utah. We enter Colorado after that, and go halfway through the state before we end in Denver. The Colorado journey starts with small mountains and flat land and then we enter the Rockies. There is an extremely difficult ending, as we go through a lot of roads in the northern Rockies that twist and turn a lot. We climb the mountains and descend them while going along very curvy and difficult roads. After a hundred miles, we finally exit the mountains and head towards our finish in Denver. All in all, this is a very long and extremely difficult route, covering 3796 miles and going through a whole lot of mountains.
