About This Route

1927 entstand in Emlichheim eine Kartoffelmehlfabrik. Unter dem Namen Emsland-Stärke ist sie heute weit über die Grafschaft Bentheim hinaus ein Begriff. Jedes Jahr werden in Emlichheim eine Million Tonnen Knollen zu Stärke verarbeitet. Auf dem Stokmanshof (17. Jahrhundert) in Schoonebeek wird eine alte Kunst gepflegt: die Herstellung von Sandteppichen.
